You can check out my post on how to share online with out getting too personal if you’re concerned about getting too personal online. (In case you’re wondering this is why you want a website and not utilize only social media.)
1. Twitter Audience: Tease with Tweets
Engaging your Twitter audience requires more than just sharing a link to your latest post. After all, you don’t throw your business card at people and then walk away, at least I really hope you don’t. Instead, craft tweets that tease the content of your blog.
For example, if you’ve written about “5 Tech Trends You Need To Know About in 2024,” tweet an intriguing fact or question about one trend per day, sparking curiosity and leading your followers to click through to your blog for the full story.
How Do You Craft the Perfect Tweet?
– Start with a compelling question or a surprising statistic.
– Use relevant keywords to increase the visibility of your tweets.
– Include an image to draw attention.
2. Instagram: Share Your Blogging Journey + Building Your Personal Brand
This platform works great for showing the personal side of your blogging journey.
Use Instagram Stories to promote your content, and engage with your audience via stickers, polls, and reactions.
Stories are a great place to share behind-the-scenes moments like:
Snippets of your day -One popular thing to do is a “To do” list of what’s going on for the day.
- A picture of your workspace with a text overlay
- The process of creating a blog post- this could be a timelapse video, a video of you working with a text overlay showing the steps, etc.
- Your Morning coffee and laptop setup
- A sneak peek of your brainstorming notes.
These types of content help humanize your brand and builds a personal connection with your audience. Many times, the connection is made on something completely random (“Hey I have that coffee cup too!”) but it leads them to being interested in your blog content.
Level Up Your Stories
– Create Story Highlights to use like mini-vlogs or tutorials
Instagram Grid- How To Use It
Your Instagram grid is a great place to share tips, blog quotes, images that show research information, or even meme’s that are related.
There are people who use their grid to be more curated and stories to be more ‘raw’ then there are those that like to keep a less curated look on their grid. It depends on your feelings and your audience for what will work best for you.
Author Leslie Anne Bruce once said that her grid was the highlight reel and stories was real life. This is how many people use their grid vs their Stories. Think of it like the pictures that make the photo album vs the ones that don’t.

Doing this ensures that your social media efforts complement your blogging goals effectively.

Creating content that is shareable can significantly amplify your reach and will enhance the engagement that you receive.
What Makes Content Shareable?
It’s different for everyone right? Below are some tips that when included tend to get more shares.
Emotional Connection: Create content that resonates emotionally with your audience. Stories, personal experiences, and relatable insights often get shared more.
Value and Utility: Posts that offer practical advice, tips, or life hacks tend to get shared as they provide value to the audience.
Contests and Giveaways: Running contests or giveaways on social media can increase engagement and shares, as participants are often required to share your content as a part of the entry process.
This can get a little tricky though and you want to make sure you stay in the legal lines of the platform.
Visual: Visual content has proven to be 40% more shareable that just content. Why? Because humans are visual, and it makes content easier to understand and digest. As they say… a picture is worth a thousand words.
Monitor and Adjust Your Strategy
Social media trends and algorithms change frequently. Which is why it’s important to monitor the performance of your social media activities and adjust your strategy accordingly.
This can also tell you if something isn’t working or if it needs to be tweaked to get improvement.
Use tools like Google Analytics, Twitter Analytics, and Facebook Insights to track how your content performs.
Pay attention to the comments and direct messages you receive. Audience feedback can provide valuable insights into what content resonates the most. This feedback and engagement can be some of your best indicators.
Don’t be afraid to try experiment with new formats or jump on emerging trends. Social media is dynamic, but sticking with putting your audience first and engaging them will help in keeping you relevant. Trends can be fun but be careful of jumping on irrelevant ones or stressing yourself out over them. If you’re new to blogging check out this post on 3 Mistakes Bloggers Make & How To Avoid Them.
Building a Social Media Calendar
A great way to stay consistent and strategic presence on social media, is by creating a content calendar. This helps in planning and ensures that you are regularly engaging your audience with a balanced mix of content.
A social media calendar also helps with scheduling and consistency. Regular posting keeps your audience engaged and your blog top of mind.
Decide on the frequency of your posts – whether daily, weekly, or bi-weekly – and stick to it. The most important part of this is letting your audience know when to expect you and then showing up.
Thematic Posts: Align your social media content with different themes or topics each week or month. This keeps your content fresh and gives your audience something to look forward to.
